Easter Celebrations – 2021

A Celebration of the Risen Christ

And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Matthew 28:9 (NLT) this is what happened on a Sunday morning a long time ago. And from that year up to today, Christians all over the world have set aside this special day to commemorate the eventual victory of Jesus Christ over death.
Despite this, many Christians worldwide celebrate it as any other normal day, they take it as just another public holiday where one is exempted from work or a day off from school. The question is why is this happening? Why are Christians no longer putting their attention on the importance of this day?

I do not have all the answers to these questions, neither can I pretend that I have a slight idea on what is going on in the minds of Christians all over the globe. However I have a firm belief that people in this era have turned their ear more to the views of the modern society in which w live in regards to Easter. And they have allowed these views to take precedence over their lives knowingly or unknowingly. Truth is it is hard to be a Christian in this era, there are times when many struggle through their faith. However, I will try to explain why every Christian should take Easter celebrations very important, because this is the foundation of the Christian faith.

Truth is Christians of old did not consider Christmas as important as Easter is, While the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ was celebrated, His Death and Resurrection rescued us from the clutches of absolute death. In other wards if Jesus Christ had not died we would still be slaves to sin and eventual absolute death.

Paul made it his mission for the Christian fraternity of that day to understand and appreciate the power of resurrection. In Philippians 3:10 Paul points us to the “power of his resurrection” and how he wants to “know him”.

He continuously reiterated that, the resurrection power works in us, for us and around us. It is the work of God in the life to come and reaches out into the life we are in thus bringing us into union with him.

This is what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:12-19
“Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we witnessed against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied”.

Paul clearly emphasizes here that with no resurrection there would be no Christianity.

in John 11:25-26: “Jesus said to the Samarian woman,

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die”.

Therefore, in our life today we should make the resurrection Jesus Christ our Lord and savior the substance of our teaching on such a special day. For with resurrection we were raised from the guilt of sin.

Have a blessed Easter.
